Auckland Perio is a specialist dental practice located in Remuera in Auckland. There are two periodontists and dental hygienists in the practice, as well as dental assistants and reception staff. Our aim is to provide the highest quality of treatment to our patients in a professional and relaxed environment.
After going to school in Northland and Auckland, Chris graduated BDS from Otago University in 1979. From there he worked in the Christchurch hospital dental department and then in general dental practice in England. He graduated MDS Distinction in periodontology in 1984 and then started in specialist practice as a periodontist in Auckland where he has been since 1985. Chris is a member of the Auckland Dental Association, New Zealand Dental Association, The Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists, The British Society of Periodontology and the American Academy of Periodontology and the International Academy of Periodontology. He is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Dentistry and a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. He has been President of the NZ Society of Periodontology, the Auckland Dental Association and the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists, the latter of which he has been made a life member. Chris has been involved in lecturing in continuing education in New Zealand and overseas. He has served as an examiner at the University of Otago on several occasions and has been a member of review panels for accrediting postgraduate courses for the New Zealand Dental Council and the Australian Dental Council.
Jenny was born in the northern part of China. She came to New Zealand to complete her high school and received the Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago in 2005. After graduation, Jenny worked as a dental house surgeon in Hutt hospital where her interest sprouted in periodontics and implant dentistry. She then spent three years working as a general dentist in private practices in Waikato and Oamaru. This further refined her skills in the different aspects of general dentistry. Jenny returned to Otago to join the three years specialist training and received the Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Periodontology in 2013. Her research was to investigate a novel bone graft material in bone healing following tooth extraction. Jenny was also involved in the undergraduate teaching in the University of Otago and Auckland University of Technology. Jenny joined Auckland Perio in 2014 and has enjoyed looking after the long-term patients in the clinic as well as treating new patients together with their general dentists to restore oral health and function. Jenny is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontist and the International Team of Implantology. She participates in national and international congresses. Jenny is fluent in Mandarin and understands Cantonese. Outside of work, Jenny enjoys walking in Auckland’s beautiful parks, travelling and church activities.
